Thank you Jamie:)

I think it's vital that we continue to try and be open and positive in a world that becomes increasingly negative and closed off. Our differences and uniqueness in ourselves, our beliefs, our lives are what make us all so interesting and beautiful - conformity and uniform thinking will only bring about more frustration and violence.

I really hope for America's sake that we can move past this issue, because the entire world is watching. If we don't back down and respect the rights of those in our nation ~ I think the consequences are going to be huge.

Thank you so much!

I really would love to believe that America is mature enough to bypass this...time of regression, but I honestly am not sure if it's possible anymore. It seems as the world becomes a smaller and smaller place and necessities are harder to get a hold of - we are turning against one another. I don't like to think about the future and how we will treat other ethnic groups and religions when water and food are running out.

All I can really say is ~ God help us. Let us hope we will help one another.

I enjoyed reading your post. It's a subject that I've been pondering a lot recently. I'm completely perplexed about why it has people in such an uproar. It seems that we all forget that at its heart Islam is a peaceful and beautiful religion (just like Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, etc...), and the unthinkable actions of radical practitioners (of any religion) shouldn't allow us to discriminate against the religion itself and all the peaceful and loving followers across the globe and in our own country. Thanks again for posting this. We need more thoughtful discourse about this topic, not more politicians playing to the perceived desires of their constituencies.

Fabulous insight once again! I think you're right that Americans can be a pretty hypocritical lot (I had an essay published about hypocrisies in the Constitution http://minds.wisconsin.edu/handle/1793/28250 ). I hope this time of growth brings about permanent change because this is an issue that's been seen before. One example is the hullabaloo about President Kenedy being Catholic, another is the constant hypocrisy of immigration (each new ethnic group fights for acceptance, but then shuns the following group). For the sake of a better society, I hope this trend fades away.

Keep up the fantastic work!
