If you missed my last post that chatted all about how excited I was to co-host MobCon with Ryan Peña of MentorMate – you’d know what I’m getting ready to share!
But in case you missed it – MobCon is an annual tech conference created by Mentor Mate, a leading Android/iOS mobile app developer that’s making waves in the mobile tech industry. It’s a conference that attracts some of the biggest names working for brands like Fitbit, Adobe, Microsoft, Pandora, Target, and many more.
And the best part is that they hired me to assist Ryan with their social media activity and live streaming! Mainly, I was tasked with interviewing speakers, generating buzz online, and doing whatever I could to make Ryan’s life easier.
So of course I have to share the major highlights, interviews, and my favorite speaker presentation from Blab.im CEO Shaan Puri.
But first, working with Ryan and the MentorMate team was an honor. It was such an excellent collaboration that everything seemed easy, even though it required me waking up at 4am three days in a row.
Let’s jump in!
Interviews
My first interview with Sarah Peterson Post, the main creator of Target’s Cartwheel app was a blast.
It was the first interview of the conference, and she was a delight to talk with!
My second interview was with Heather Kennedy, Director of Customer Success for Fitbit Wellness.
As a fellow yoga and health lover, we could’ve chatted all day. I love that Fitbit is helping businesses get their employees in shape!
The third interview was with Hannah Meium, the Branded Content Director for Mashable.
I was curious to know more about her job, what she deals with on the day-to-day, and her famous cat, Herman.
My fourth interview was with my favorite presenter, Shaan Puri, CEO of Blab.im.
It was a great interview, but we had a technical issue and the recording only downloaded a third of it. I was crushed!!
Ryan and I learned a good lesson – always have a backup video recording.
Watch his INCREDIBLE presentation:
And my final interview was with the MobDemo winner, Tyler J. Skluzacek of MyBivy!
I was rooting for MyBivy weeks before the conference, so it was super exciting for me to see him win first prize.
MyBivy is an app that helps veterans or PTSD sufferers overcome night tremors and sleep soundly.
Now, a few highlights!
Highlights
Our #MobConSelfie contests were a definite success! We created the contest to engage attendees on Twitter and they had a great time.
Another highlight was our (Ryan and I) introduction to the conference via the big screen in the main room.
It was quite the jump to go from Periscoping a live keynote to being outside in time for it to move to the screen, but it was fun!
Annnd we were trending #1 in Minneapolis by 10am the first day of the conference!! And did so for 13 hours. We stayed in the top 10 trending topics in Minneapolis throughout the conference.

Overall, we had a blast and rocked it out!
I look forward to working with the MentorMate team again in the future. To view the MobCon story on Twitter, click HERE.
